About the Founder

bio picReinvent Cities was created by Washington, DC-based journalist David Hatch as a forum to explore innovative high- and low-tech solutions to the myriad problems that plague the world’s cities.

This site takes a global view of smart growth: urban development decisions in Shanghai could be as relevant to Houston as to Hong Kong.

After experiencing the rampant pollution and inadequate infrastructure that citizens of emerging nations contend with every day, he is convinced that cities must reinvent themselves to survive.

Hatch has written extensively about technology, policy, business and cities for U.S. News & World Report, National Journal, Governing and other publications.

He also is part of Citiscope, a global news startup focused on urban challenges and innovation, particularly in the developing world.

More details here about his background.
